Plant to Sensor phenotyping approach is often used for the cases that require 3D information or highly controlled imaging protocols. These plant to sensor platforms bring the tray, pot, crate or bench with plants to an array of sensors. Due to this the sensors can be enclosed to optimally condition the data acquisition environment to get the best possible measurement signal.
Additionally the plant samples can be singulated and/or rotated to enable a multi perspective view on the plant. The latter is especially helpful for modelling and digital twin creation purposes.
These platforms are frequently used in applications that study the phenotypic responses on genotypes exposed to various treatments. The fact that plants are mobile and cultivated in single pots/crates enables the user to apply different irrigation / fertigation treatments.
